These white direct thermal labels print without a ribbon: the printer applies heat directly to a heat-sensitive label surface, so there are no ribbons or ink to replace. They print quickly and economically with no ribbon or ink to buy, which keeps running costs low for high-volume labelling. Direct thermal print can fade with heat, light or abrasion over time, so for permanent or long-life labels choose a thermal transfer label and ribbon instead.
